DENTON, Texas – 'Twas the weekend before the holidays and all through campus, books were laid down, classes were done and everyone was looking for some fun.
 
Pioneer fans – look no further than Kitty Magee Arena this Monday. The Texas Woman's University basketball is set to bring the fun in their Monday Matinee game on Dec. 20 at 2 p.m., as they battle University of Texas – Tyler in a nonconference match-up.
 
TWU (6-3) just dropped a close game to No. 3 Texas A&M – Commerce on Monday, Dec. 13, but they are set to bounce back against UT-Tyler (6-1).
 
PIONEER PRESENTS
 
  • Admission will be FREE, so make sure to bring the whole family to cheer on the Pioneers.
  • Our jolliest Pioneer fan, all the way from the North Pole, Santa Claus will be making a special appearance at the game. A photo opportunity will be available after the game! Kids make sure to tell Santa your last-minute wishes before the big day!
  • We will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots, so please bring a toy to donate.
  • As always, wear maroon, be loud and be PIONEER PROUD. 
 
WINNING WISH LIST
 
  • DECORATIONS GALORE: The Pioneers continue to showcase a diversified group of top scorers in each game. Against Texas A&M – Commerce, TWU had four players who finished with double digit points, Sadie Moyer, Agang Tac, Brielle Woods and Ma'K'La Woods.
  • JINGLE BELL BLOCK: The Pioneers live in Block City. Over their nine games, they have denied 23 shots, averaging 2.6 per game. Ashley Ingram leads TWU with nine blocks and Agang Tac, who had five against Commerce, is in second with seven.
  • IT'S LIT: TWU and UT-Tyler have only met once before, in 2019, and the Pioneers won by 16. This season, the two teams have one common opponent so far: University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. The Patriots beat UAFS by just five points, while TWU beat UAFS by 36 points.
  • HAPPY HOLIDAYS: Against UAFS, UT-Tyler scored just seven points in the second quarter. While they currently average 48.6% from the field, the Pioneers are holding their opponents to just 35% from the field, which is fourth in the LSC and 48th in the nation. TWU will have to lock down on defense and hold them to low-scoring quarters to get the win.
