DENTON, Texas (Nov. 10, 2022) - It was a celebratory night in Kitty Magee Arena as the TWU Pioneers honored senior Mercedes Nerios and faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication across the university. 
 
Post celebration, the Pioneers faced the Oklahoma City Stars in a long fought battle. The dual ended 33-9, with the Stars taking the win. 
 
The Pioneers competed in eight weight classes, and recorded two forfeits in 101 and 123. 
 
It was a great night for Pioneers Mackenzie Peterson (109) and Nari Miller (170). Peterson opened the match against Nadia Alejandres, and scored five points in a fall against Alejandres. In an 8-5 decision over Angelina Adams, Miller claimed the win. 
 
Next, the Pioneers are headed to Fort Worth, Texas to take on familiar opponent Texas Wesleyan on Jan. 25 at 6 p.m.
