DENTON, Texas (Jan. 27, 2023) – In the final game of their four-game home stand, the Texas Woman's basketball faces Arkansas – Fort Smith on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m.

TWU (18-1, 13-0) currently rides an eight-game win streak in Kitty Magee Arena. Tomorrow afternoon, the Pioneers meet UAFS (6-14, 4-10) who are 3-9 on the road.

On Thursday night, the Pioneers defeated Oklahoma Christian in KMA by 17 points, 73-56. UAFS played UT Tyler in Tyler, Texas on Thursday, Jan. 26, losing 63-53.

The Pioneers have not met the Lions at home in KMA since Feb. 26, 2022, when TWU claimed the win 72-58.

TWU will tip off with UAFS at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
  • SCORING THREATS: Only one Lions' player averages more than 10 points per game: No. 23 Aaliyah Prince. Prince averages 14.8 points per game, on .442 from the field. Prince did not play against UT Tyler, but in the previous game against the Pioneers this season, Prince scored 30 points. In the Lions' loss to UT Tyler, they were led by No. 21 Hannah Boyett, who went 100% from the three point line, going 6-6 in the game. Boyett is second on the team in three point percentage per game, shooting an average of .378.
  • FIRST HALF: In the first half against UT Tyler, the Lions recorded their lowest quarters of scoring on the night. They opened the game scoring just seven points in the first quarter and answered by scoring just 13 in the second quarter. The Pioneers will look to come out strong in the first half to defeat the Lions.
  • LOOK BACK: The Pioneers and the Lions have already met once this season on Dec. 30 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. TWU won the game 86-75. Against the Lions, Sadie Moyer was the Pioneers' leading scorer with 24 points. The Pioneers had five players score in double-digits. Ashley Ingram had 17 points, Scout Huffman and Ngozi Obineke finished with 13 points, and Jordan Jackson added 12 points. The Pioneers outrebounded the Lions 35-20 and scored 40 points in the paint. Rebounds and paint points will be key for the Pioneers on Saturday.
