DENTON, Texas (Jan. 3, 2023) - The Pioneers continue to climb the NCAA Women's Coaches Rankings, moving to No. 11 over the holiday break.
After their first appearance as No. 13 on Nov. 17, the Pioneers continued to climb the rankings and moved to No. 12 on Dec. 7, 2022.
On Dec. 3, the Pioneers hosted an exciting tri-dual against Schreiner and Colorado Mesa. The Pioneers marked their first home win against Schreiner 25-23, where several Pioneers including
Mercedes Nerios,
Kira Phillips,
Poorna Babu,
Aubrey Yauger and
Shean'areial Miller recorded individual wins against Schreiner.
In her third win against Jayleen Sekona of Colorado Mesa, Yauger continues to hold second in her 191 weight class just above Sekona at No. 3.
The Pioneers are set for 2023 with their first dual of the new year against Hastings College and Friends University in Hastings, Nebraska on Jan. 7 at 6 p.m.
On Jan. 8 at 9 a.m., the Pioneers will be competing in the Bronco Open at Hasting College.
