TWU TO HOST ANGELO STATE FOR FINAL REGULAR SEASON MATCH

DENTON, Texas (Nov. 2, 2023) - For the final Lone Star Conference match of the regular season, the Texas Woman's soccer team hosts Angelo State on Friday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park. 

This will be the final game of the regular season for both teams before the start of the LSC tournament next Monday. TWU (11-1-4, 6-1-3) is currently second in the LSC ranking while Angelo State (7-6-4, 6-2-3) is fifth. 

DEFEND THE PARK

  • Due to the cancelation of the last home game, the activities for kick a cure game will be moved to this match. BE SURE TO WEAR PINK to show support of those battling with breast cancer.

A LOOK BACK 

The Pioneers and the Rambelles have a very long history. These teams have played against each other every year since TWU's program started back in 2002, with the expectation of 2020.

The Rambelles hold the all-time series advantage over the Pioneers 20-11-2. 

While playing in Denton, Texas, the Pioneers have a home record of 8-7-1 over ASU. The last time TWU defeated the Rambelles was in 2019 with a 1-0 win. 

THE RAMBELLES

  • ASU defeated their opponent in the last two matches against Lubbock Christian (1-0) and UT Tyler (2-0).

  • The top Rambelles to watch for in tomorrow's match are Madison and Maxey and Allyson Reed, who lead the team in goals with three each. 

  • Amber Lockwood is second in the LSC in shutout games with six. A category that Amanda Farris leads. 

THE PIONEERS 

  • TWU had not played a game since Wednesday, Oct. 25, which gives the Pioneers over a week of rest. 

  • The Pioneers were just ranked third in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional ranking. 

  • TWU continues to lead the goals-against average ranking in the Division II with only 3 goals allowed in 1440 minutes. 

  • Amanda Farris ranks second in this category in the individual division, just behind Mackenzie Rath from Minnesota St. 

  • Farris and the defensive back line recorded 11 shutout games this season.
