DENTON, Texas (Nov. 5, 2023) – It's Lone Star Conference Championship time in Denton, Texas, as the Texas Woman's soccer team hosts the opening round against No. 5 seed Midwestern State on Monday night at 7 p.m.
 
TWU (11-2-4, 6-2-3) will meet MSU (9-4-5, 6-3-3) for just the second time this season on Monday night. The two teams meet in regular season LSC action on Sept. 20 in the Pioneers first conference game of the regular season.
 
Despite outshooting the Mustangs 15-10 and putting eight shots on frame, the Pioneers conceded a penalty kick goal after a foul was committed in the box in the 23rd minute, as the Pioneers fell in the contest 1-0. 
 
The Pioneers will look to take control offensively and find the back of the net on Monday night.

• A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS: The Mustangs finished the season with a 6-3-3 record in LSC action, with losses to Angelo State, Dallas Baptist and St. Mary's. The Mustangs have scored 27 goals on the season and have conceded 18. They average 1.50 goals per game and 13.2 shots per game. No. 23 junior midfielder Lexi Beck currently leads MSU with seven goals on the season and six assists. The pair of goalkeepers, Allison Dellis and Lexi Jackson have saved 66 shots on the season.
• A LOOK AT TWU: Across the season, the Pioneers have scored 21 goals and only conceded four goals. TWU averages 1.24 goals per game and 13.8 shots per game. The Pioneers' starting keeper Amanda Farris has recorded 48 saves on the season. No. 24 Giselle Gutierrez leads the Pioneers with three goals and one assist.
• HISTORY: The Pioneers have met the Mustangs 31 times. In those 31 meetings, the Pioneers have won nine, lost 17 and tied five. In Denton, the Pioneers are 7-6-3 against MSU. TWU last defeated the Mustangs in 2021 3-2 at home.
