CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (March 1, 2023) – In their inaugural season Texas Woman's wrestling has sent five stellar athletes to compete for the NCAA national wrestling title.

On Sunday, Feb. 19, the Pioneers competed at the NCWWC Region V tournament in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Â
Of the fifteen Pioneers who competed, five Pioneers qualified for Nationals including
Mackenzie Peterson (109),
Mercedes Nerios (116),
Brooke Zejada (136),
Poorna Babu (143), and
Aubrey Yauger (170).

Throughout the season the Pioneers competed in several duals and tournaments to prepare for post season. Nerios and Babu recorded a total of 20 duel points this season, followed by Yauger with 18 points, Zejada with 10, and Peterson with 24 total points this season.

The Pioneers will hit the mat Friday, March 3-4 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse.
