Marshall, Mo. (Nov. 24, 2025) – The Texas Woman's wrestling team wrapped up a competitive weekend at the Missouri Valley Open, gaining valuable experience against one of the strongest fields in the nation. While the Pioneers did not place in this year's team standings, the two-day event served as an early season measuring stick and showcased encouraging moments across the lineup.
Despite the depth of competition, multiple Pioneers put together competitive periods, earned key wins, and continued to build momentum as the season progressed. Several athletes also notched opening round victories and battled deep into their consolation brackets, underscoring the team's resilience and growth.

IMPACT WRESTLERS

160: Maegan Flaherty led the team with a 4–2 performance, battling through six matches and advancing deep into her bracket.

180: Samaria Barnett delivered another consistent outing, finishing 3–2 and notching key wins in the upper weights.

207: Kitana Leofatato also put together a 3–2 effort, securing multiple victories and closing out the tournament with a winning record.

In addition, five other Pioneers finished 2–2, giving TWU a total of eight wrestlers at .500 or better on one of the toughest stages of the season.
These results reflect TWU's growing depth and the team's ability to compete across multiple weight classes against top-level national competition.
NEXT UP
The Pioneers return home next Tuesday, Dec. 2, for a tri-dual against Simon Fraser and Schreiner, with action scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at home in Denton.
