DENTON, Texas (Dec. 1, 2025) - The Texas Woman's wrestling team is set to continue their 2025-26 season at home this week, hosting Simon Fraser University and Schreiner University in a midweek tri-dual on Tuesday, Dec. 2, inside Kitty Magee Arena.

The Pioneers will open competition against Simon Fraser before closing the afternoon with a dual against Schreiner. Tuesday marks TWU's second home appearance of the season and comes just one week after the Pioneers delivered strong performances at both the Missouri Valley Open and their first home tri-dual.

Fans are encouraged to pack Pioneer Hall and bring the energy as TWU looks to defend home mat advantage and continue building momentum in the early stretch of the season.

A LOOK BACK

  • TWU enters the tri-dual coming off a highly competitive weekend at the Missouri Valley Open, one of the strongest women's wrestling tournaments in the nation. The Pioneers showcased depth and resilience throughout the two-day event, finishing with eight wrestlers at .500 or better and notable winning records from Maegan Flaherty (160, 4-2), Samaria Barnett (180, 3-2) and Kitana Leofatato (207, 3-2).

  • These efforts came on the heels of TWU's exciting home opener, where the Pioneers secured dual victories over McMurry (30-11) and Tarleton State (25-23). Several wrestlers delivered key results, including quick or bonus-point victories from Alexa Rodriguez (103), Brooke Zejda (124), Gigi Donald (131), Flaherty at 145, Barnett at 180 and Leofatato, whose fall at 207 clinched the win against Tarleton.

With strong performances coming from both returning veterans and rising newcomers, the Pioneers continue to build momentum early in the 2025-26 campaign as they prepare to defend their home mat once again.
