DENTON, Texas (Dec. 2, 2025) – The Texas Woman's wrestling team went 1-1 in its return to Kitty Magee Arena on Tuesday, competing in a tri-dual against No. 7 Simon Fraser and Schreiner.
TWU built an early lead against Simon Fraser after a pair of forfeits and a win by Brooke Zejda, who defeated No. 10 ranked Laura Alcantor Soto to give the Pioneers a 15-5 advantage. The Red Leafs responded with a late surge, winning several consecutive bouts and closing out the dual with a tight decision at 207 pounds to secure a 25-22 victory.
In the second matchup of the day, the Pioneers found themselves in a back-and-forth battle with Schreiner. After a tech fall win by Kira Phillips tied the dual 12-12, TWU rattled off three more victories by Mackenzie Blue, Samaria Barnett and Kitana Leofatato to clinch a 24-16 win, the team's second head to head win of the season.
