DENTON, Texas (June 9, 2023) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team continues to build a talented 2024 roster. On Friday, the Pioneers announced the addition of Northern Illinois University (NIU) transfer Emma Brkljacic.

"Emma has a passion for TWU Gymnastics, and we could not be more thrilled to welcome her into our program," TWU Gymnastics Associate Head Coach Kristen Harold said. "With her experience, positive energy and commitment, we expect her to be an immediate contributor to our line-ups. We are excited for the addition of Emma to our Pioneer family!"

Brkljacic, from Tampa, Florida, previously competed at NIU for two seasons, 2022 and 2023. While a member of the Huskies gymnastics team, she was named a 2022 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-American and a member of the 2023 Academic All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) team. Brkljacic competed on vault and beam with the Huskies, scoring a career-high 9.800 multiple times on beam and on vault.

Prior to attending NIU, she competed in gymnastics all four years of high school at East Lake High School. Additionally, Brkljacic trained at LaFleurs Tampa for six years.

Brkljacic placed third in vault at the 2021 Gasparilla Classic, was a 2021 Region 8 Regionals Qualifier and placed sixth in All-Around at the 2021 State Meet. She also helped guide her team to the 2021 Level 10 Team State Championship.

Committed to excellence in the classroom, Brkljacic served as the 2021 National Honor Society President for her high school.

Furthermore, she is committed to community service, having participated in volunteer opportunities at local schools, the Feed My Starving Children Project and through her involvement with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

At TWU, Brkljacic will be majoring in General Health Sciences and minoring in Nutrition.

"I am so excited to be continuing my academic and athletic career at TWU," Brkljacic said. "All of the TWU staff and girls have made me feel so loved from the beginning. The campus is beautiful and full of amazing opportunities. I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I can't wait to be in Denton!"
