DENTON, Texas (April 28, 2025) – After leading the Pioneers to their 13th National Title, the Texas Woman's Gymnastics Coaching Staff has been named the 2025 College Gym News Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championship (WCGNIC) Coaching Staff of the Year.

According to College Gym News, the criteria for the award is "nominees first and foremost coached their WCGNIC-eligible team to athletic success, whether that means a large improvement over past seasons or record-breaking performances."

The nominees for the award were Alaska, Bridgeport, Fisk, Greenville and TWU.

Members of the College Gym News Staff nominated individuals and staff for the 2025 College Gym News Awards and editors voted.

"Texas Woman's delivered clarity and dominance in a year full of change and questions for the WCGNIC," said the College Gym News Staff. "The 12-time USAG National Champion added another title to its collection by winning the inaugural WCGNIC title. Even more impressively, TWU remained in the conversation for a regionals berth deep into the season—an uncommon and extraordinary feat for a Division II program. The team's focus and polish were a testament to its coaching staff's expertise."

The TWU Coaching Staff was also named the 2025 WCGA Division II Coaching Staff of the Year, and Zan Jones and Kyana George were named Midwest Independent Conference Assistant Coaches of the Year.

"There is no question that Lisa, Zan and Kyana are incredibly skilled coaches, but along with their technical expertise they are each genuine and intentional individuals who daily pursue excellence in all they do," said Morgan Lair, Assistant AD for Communications. "Each of them aims to help the student-athletes succeed on the competition floor, in the classroom and in all areas of life. They truly seek to cultivate empowered individuals within their program who will make a difference in the world. It is an honor to work alongside them."
