DENTON, Texas (Oct. 4, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team is on the way to Austin for a conference battle against St. Edward's tomorrow, Oct. 5 at Lewis-Chen Family Field. The match begins at 1 p.m.

In 2023, The Pioneers (4-2-0, 0-1-1) secured a 2-0 win at Pioneer Soccer Park vs. the Hilltoppers (2-4-2, 0-2-1) despite SEU leading the all-time series 3-10-1.

SHOWDOWN IN AUSTIN:

BUSINESS ON THE ROAD:

  • A LOOK AT THE HILLTOPPERS: In their last match, SEU gave up two goals in the first 10 minutes of their 2-0 loss to the Angelo State Rambelles on Wednesday night. This defeat gave the Hilltoppers their second Lone Star Conference loss. St. Edward's first two conference games before Wednesday night ended in a draw with UT Tyler and a loss to Lubbock Christian.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU is coming off a hard fought 2-2 tie with No.25 ranked Midwestern State. The Pioneers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Bella Alfaro and Giselle Gutierrez. The Mustangs went on to get their offense going in the second half with their defensive pressure on the Pioneers to force a few turnovers that led to points for MSU to tie the game at 2-2. Despite giving up the two goals, TWU managed the game well on both ends, as Head Coach Babak Abouzar was pleased with his team's execution when they attacked on offense.  

  • GETTING BACK ON TRACK: TWU outshot the Mustangs 20-10 in their last outing with nine shots on goal and they have a 94-57 shot advantage over their opponents so far this season. Heading into this matchup with SEU, Texas Woman's average 13.4 shots per game with a 44% shot percentage while only allowing eight shots and one goal per game. TWU has excelled in the set play opportunity game against their opponents as they look to do their work from corner kicks with a 37-14 advantage against all opponents. 

The Pioneers will take on St. Edward's tomorrow at Lewis-Chen Family Field in Austin, Texas at 1 p.m.
