SAN ANGELO, Texas (Nov. 14, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team travels to San Angelo to face No. 2 seeded Dallas Baptist in the Lone Star Conference Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. This marks the Pioneers' first appearance in the LSC Semifinal Round since 2019, adding even more excitement to their postseason journey.

The Patriots and Pioneers have matched up annually since 2002, with DBU leading the all-time series 14-8-3. The last time the Pioneers defeated Dallas Baptist was in 2016, and with high stakes on the line, the Pioneers will be eager to earn their ninth victory and advance to the championship game.

THE PIONEERS ON THE ROAD

THE ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP RUNS THROUGH DBU

  • A LOOK AT THE PATRIOTS: Dallas Baptist (14-1-3, 10-1-2) enters this matchup after a 3-0 shutout over Oklahoma Christian in the playoff quarterfinals. Notably, DBU is ranked as the No. 6 scoring offense in the nation and has recorded twelve shutouts this season.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: Texas Woman's University (11-3-4, 7-2-3) comes into this game off a thrilling win over St. Edward's in the playoff quarterfinals. The Pioneers triumphed in a nail-biting penalty shootout (3-2) after a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation and double overtime. Freshman goalkeeper Faith Graves proved to be a game-changer in her first career start, making seven saves and stopping two penalty shots. Sophomore Ailyn Oliveros put the Pioneers on the board with a goal during regulation. Senior Amanda Farris sealed the win for the Pioneers with the final penalty kick, following successful attempts by Rachel Ryter and Bailee Radney. The Pioneers seek to carry that momentum into tomorrow's match in San Angelo.

  • PIONEERING THE PATH TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP: The Pioneers must limit the scoring chances of DBU, who are known for their powerful offense. TWU has been strong defensively, allowing just 0.67 goals per game on average and recording 11 clean sheets this season. Maintaining tight defensive coverage and anticipating the Patriots' attack will be key. Offensively, the Pioneers have scored 22 goals this season, averaging 1.22 goals per game with a shots on goal percentage of 45%. Generating about 12.7 shots per game, the Pioneers will need to focus on converting these opportunities into goals if they hope to challenge DBU's defense and tilt the match in their favor. If they can balance their offensive and defensive efforts, the Pioneers will be well positioned to secure the win and advance to the championship final.

Texas Woman's University will take on Dallas Baptist tomorrow at LeGrand Soccer Complex in San Angelo, Texas at 7:30 p.m.
