CANYON, Texas (Nov. 20, 2024) – Ahead of the 2024 Lone Star Conference Tournament, the Texas Woman's volleyball team celebrated their regular season accomplishments at the LSC Banquet on Wednesday night.
At the banquet, five Pioneers were honored with conference accolades:
Cara Pool,
Grace Reynolds,
Tori Woods,
Luna França and
Malia Viernes.
"I'm very proud of this group for everything they've accomplished so far this season," TWU Head Coach
Jessica Ransom said. "Competing in such a competitive conference every single night is tough, so being recognized for an award is a huge achievement."
For the second straight season, Pool was selected to the All-LSC First Team. Pool currently ranks seventh in the LSC in hitting percentage, averaging .342 on the season. She also ranks fifth in blocks with 1.01 per set. During the regular season, Pool was named both an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week. She leads the Pioneers in hitting percentage and has 201 kills on the season.
Along with being named to the All-LSC First Team, Pool was named to the LSC All-Academic Team for the second straight season. Pool will graduate with a Kinesiology degree and currently celebrates a 3.876 grade point average.
Woods earned her second All-LSC Second Team honor of her career and third overall All-LSC honor of her career. Woods currently leads the Pioneers in kills with 294 on the season, as she averages 3.30 per set. In the LSC, she currently ranks 11th in kills per set. She has 20 service aces on the season and 272 total digs. During the regular season, she recorded 13 double-doubles. She ranks 12th in points in the LSC, averaging 3.67 points per set.
For the second straight season, Woods also joined Pool on the LSC All-Academic Team. Woods is currently pursuing a degree Nutrition and has a 4.0 grade point average.
Joining Woods on the All-LSC Second Team was Reynolds, who earned All-LSC Honorable Mention honors last season. Reynolds currently ranks 10th in the LSC in assists, averaging 6.72 assists per set. She earned one LSC Setter of the Week honor this season. On Sept. 19 against Texas A&M-Kingsville, Reynolds recorded a career high 45 assists. Throughout the season, she finished with 16 double-doubles – assists and digs. Additionally, she finished the season 32 service aces, averaging 0.30 aces per set – which ranks 15th in the LSC.
Earning All-LSC Honorable Mention for the second straight season was the Pioneers' libero França. She earned one LSC Defensive Player of the Week during the season. She recorded a career high 33 digs on Sept. 7 against New Haven. She currently ranks fifth in the LSC in digs per set, averaging 4.56 digs per set.
Viernes joined França on the All-LSC Honorable Mention list, earning her first All-LSC honor of her career. Viernes recorded a career high 18 kills on Nov. 9. She has 259 kills on the season. During the season, she recorded 10 doubles-doubles, kills and digs. She is hitting .252 on the season and has 31 total blocks.
After celebrating the All-LSC honors, TWU looks ahead to their first round LSC Tournament game against No. 5 seed Dallas Baptist.
