CHADRON, Neb. (Dec. 9, 2024) – After an exciting and competitive weekend, the Texas Woman's wrestling team concluded their time in Chadron, Neb., with the Chadron State Open on Saturday, Dec. 7. Prior to the Open, the Pioneers faced Chadron State, Adams State, and Simon Fraser in a series of RMAC Duals on Friday, finishing the day with a record of 2-1.
TWU kicked off the duals against the Grizzlies. The match ended in a 22-22 tie, but TWU secured the victory due to two forfeits and a win by Jaycee Portee in the heavyweight match, which was decided by criteria. In their next matchup, the Pioneers faced the Red Leafs, who defeated them 29-15, despite strong efforts from TWU in all matches.
The Pioneers rebounded with a powerful performance against the Eagles, achieving four tech fall victories to secure a 27-16 win. This concluded the Chadron State Duals with a 2-1 record for the weekend.
