LOGAN, Utah (Feb. 23, 2024) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team closes Friday night with a big 195.425 team score at the Utah State quad meet and an individual program record on vault from Daisy Woodring

The quad meet featured host Utah State, Iowa State and Boise State. The Pioneers started out the night on the balance beam and finished up on bars to record another team score over 195.

Six career high performances and one vault program record were recorded in Utah.

In their first rotation, senior Madeline Gose led the Pioneers with a huge 9.900 to start things off for TWU. Emma Brkljacic followed Gose with a great beam routine that scored 9.875 and marked Brkljacic's career high on beam. Daisy Woodring had the third highest score for the Pioneers on beam with a 9.850. Emily Six, first one to perform at the quad meet rounded out the top four scores for TWU with a 9.750. The Pioneers recorded a 48.575 in their first rotation.

TWU rotated over to floor for the second rotation, where they scored 49.050 for the second meet in a row. The Pioneers repeated the score earned at the last TWU quad meet.

Brkljacic had another career high on this event with a powerful performance that earned her a score of 9.875. Steelie King followed Brkljacic with a 9.850. A pair of 9.800 from Emily Six and Gose added to the big 49.050 for the Pioneers. Woodring closed things off for TWU in this event with a 9.725.

Leading the Pioneers on vault was senior Woodring, who was recently nominated to the AAI Award. Woodring surpassed the 9.925 from Schyler Jones back in 2017 with a program high on vault of 9.950. Woodring's 9.950 was also the highest score on vault of the entire meet. Kaitlyn Hoiland also has a powerful vault that earned a 9.875. A 9.775 from Brkljacic and a 9.725 from King were recorded for TWU. Sophia Isbell collected a 9.675 on vault, her only event of the evening.

Following their rotation on vault, the Pioneers moved over to bars for the fourth and final rotation and scored a 48.800.

Caroline Bowns, Brooke Ferrari, Hoiland, and Kami Zarlengo all scored 9.825 on bars. This marks a career high score for Bowns and Zarlengo.

Boise State claimed the win with a 197.0250, host Utah State took second with a 196.2750 and Iowa State finished third with a 195.9500.

"It was disappointing to count a fall in the first rotation, but I was very proud of how the team continued to fight through the whole meet," TWU Head Coach Lisa Bowerman said. "Ending the night with multiple career highs and a new Vault record by Daisy, are accomplishments to be celebrated and are performances we can continue to build on in the weeks ahead."

TWU will be back in action on Sunday, March 3 at home in Kitty Magee Arena, as they host their second home quad meet of the season featuring Oklahoma, Clemson and Pennsylvania. The meet is slated to begin at 2 p.m. The Pioneers will be hosting a FREE Kids Clinic after the conclusion of the quad meet.
