CANYON, Texas (May 1, 2024) – For the first time since 2017, the Texas Woman's softball team will play in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

TWU (25-28, 23-19) enters the LSC Tournament as the No. 7 seed. In the first round of the tournament, the Pioneers will face No. 10 Eastern New Mexico (25-25, 18-24) at 11 a.m. The tournament is a single elimination. With a win over ENMU, TWU would face the No. 2 seed UT Tyler (46-7, 37-5) at 4:30 p.m.

The tournament is being hosted at West Texas A&M, who is the No. 1 seed.

TOURNAMENT THURSDAY

• LAST MEETING WITH ENMU: During the season against Eastern New Mexico, the Pioneers went 2-1. They won the first game 9-3 and third game 7-3. TWU lost the second game in 11 innings 6-3. Across the two wins, TWU scored a combined 16 runs. In the game one win, Makana Morton crushed a grand slam - the first of her career. LeBlanc also hit a home run in game. Despite the loss in game two, Hawwa Townsend crushed her first career home run. In the third game win, Elizabeth Smith hit a double and Callie Bailey hit a triple.
• STAS LOOK: Alyssa LeBlanc currently ranks first in the LSC in strikeouts on the season with 223, which also ranks 8th in Division II. She currently sits 15 strikeouts away from recording 1,000 strikeouts in her career. In her two years at TWU, LeBlanc will also set a new program record for career strikeouts - she currently has 517 across her two years. LeBlanc also ranks first in the LSC in innings pitched - 180.2.
• LAST MEETING WITH UTT: Against UT Tyler on the road, the Pioneers lost game one 6-2, lost game two 8-2, and fell in game three 2-1. In the closest game of the series, game three, TWU struck first with a home run by Delaney Boley. They held strong on defense, as UTT recorded seven hits and only scored two runs.
