DENTON, Texas (Sept. 20, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team is set to take on Ouachita Baptist this Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Ark at Kluck Field. The Pioneers (3-1-0) aim to even the all-time series against the Tigers (1-3-0) this weekend, as OBU currently leads the series 3-2-2.

A LOOK AT THE TIGERS: In their last match, OBU suffered a 4-0 loss against the UT Tyler Patriots. The Patriots scored their first goal towards the end of the first half, taking a 1-0 lead. They extended their lead in the second half with two assisted goals and an own goal by the Tigers. Currently, OBU sits in sixth place in the Great American Conference (GAC) and aims to improve their standings as they defend their home field against the Pioneers.

A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU secured their first home win by defeating Harding 1-0 on Wednesday night. Giselle Gutierrez scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute from a pass by Mia Thaxton. This was Gutierrez's first goal of the season. Amanda Farris had four saves, resulting in another shutout. The win helped the Pioneers improve to 3-1, placing them fifth in the LSC standings.

GET TO WORK EARLY AND FINISH: TWU has been able to take half of their 48 shots so far this season in the first half of their games. The Pioneers also average 12 shots per game with a 47% shots-on-goal percentage. The attacking duo of Alyssa Striker and Bella Alfaro will continue to put pressure on the opposing team's defense and aim to score against the Tigers.
The Pioneers will play against the OBU Tigers tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Kluck Field in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
