PORTALES, N.M. (Oct. 2, 2025) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team is set for its first Lone Star Conference road trip of the season this weekend. TWU (8-5, 1-1) will travel to Portales, New Mexico to face Eastern New Mexico (3-9, 1-1) on Friday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m., before heading to Canyon, Texas to play No. 14 West Texas A&M (9-4, 1-1) on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
TWU enters the weekend looking to build on its early-season momentum and continue climbing the Lone Star standings. The Pioneers have shown strong balance on offense and defense through non-conference and early league play, and this first trip away from Kitty Magee Arena will be an early test of consistency and composure on the road. With depth across the lineup and several players ranked among the league leaders statistically, TWU aims to make a statement against a pair of conference opponents.
HITTING THE ROAD
UNDER THE MICROSCOPE
- A LOOK AT THE LADY GREYHOUNDS: Eastern New Mexico enters the weekend with a 3-9 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play. The Greyhounds have tallied 486 kills on 1,580 attempts for a .146 hitting percentage on the season. They are averaging 11.6 kills, 10.2 assists and 15.9 digs per set. In their recent four-set win over Texas A&M International, ENMU held the Dustdevils to a .052 hitting percentage, led by 13 kills from Sophia Valdez and 25 digs from Imahni Brown. Known for their scrappy defense and ability to extend rallies, the Greyhounds force opponents to stay disciplined and efficient in their attack.
- A LOOK AT THE LADY BUFFS: West Texas A&M has posted 588 kills on 1,501 attempts, hitting .255 while holding opponents to just .164. The Lady Buffs are averaging 12.8 kills per set along with 0.7 service aces per set. Defensively, they record 14.5 digs per set and have already totaled 46 solo blocks this season. WT's offensive efficiency and depth have made them one of the top contenders in the Lone Star Conference, and their home-court advantage in Canyon provides an added challenge for opponents.
- A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: Through 14 matches, TWU has recorded 563 kills on 1,672 attempts for a .206 hitting percentage, while holding opponents to just .141. The Pioneers average 12.2 kills per set and 1.87 aces per set. Defensively, they rank second in the Lone Star Conference in digs, posting 18.04 per set and also contribute 2.46 blocks per set. Myracle Stockman leads the attack with 119 kills, setter Kiana Reed has directed the offense with 284 assists, and middle blocker Jonaida Donowa anchors the net with 46 total blocks. With a balanced offensive approach and strong defensive consistency, the Pioneers look to carry their momentum into their first road trip of conference play.
