DENTON, Texas  (Nov. 15, 2025) - History awaits Texas Woman's soccer. After a gritty 1-0 victory in the Lone Star Conference Tournament Semifinals, the Pioneers are heading to their first-ever LSC Championship match. TWU will take the field on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. at Patriot Soccer Field to face the top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Dallas Baptist Patriots.

The Pioneers (15-2-3, 9-2-3) secured their spot in the title match after defeating second-seeded Midwestern State. Just 48 seconds into the second half, freshman midfielder Jaida Arizmendi sparked a build-up that led to a driven cross from Alyssa Striker and a composed finish by senior forward Bri Luna, the match's only goal.

TWU then leaned on their defensive discipline, anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Faith Graves, who posted five saves and earned her sixth straight clean sheet, extending the team's scoreless streak to 540 minutes.

HEADED TO DALLAS: THE MATCHUP OF THE SEASON

  • Sunday marks a rematch of TWU and DBU's earlier meeting in Denton. The Patriots (17-1) enter the championship as the nation's top-ranked team, with their only loss of the season coming in conference play to Midwestern State.

  • TWU enters championship weekend as one of the LSC's most in-form teams - riding a six match winning streak, a program record tying 15 wins, and a defensive run that has seen the Pioneers allow fewer than 0.8 goals per game in conference play.

CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY

  • Texas Woman's will meet Dallas Baptist in the LSC Championship title match on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. at Patriot Soccer Field in Dallas. The winner will claim the 2025 LSC Championship and secure the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

  • A LOOK AT DBU: Dallas Baptist enters the title match with one of the strongest resumes in Division II. The Patriots are 17-1, scoring 66 goals and allowing only 5 on the season. Their schedule includes dominant shutout wins over St. Mary's, UT Tyler, Eastern New Mexico, A&M International, Oklahoma Christian, Sul Ross State, and West Texas A&M. They opened postseason play with a 4-0 win over UT Tyler. DBU features explosive scoring depth and a disciplined defensive unit, making them one of the most complete and efficient teams in the nation.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: Texas Woman's has surged at the perfect time, putting together one of the strongest postseason stretches in program history. The team has recorded six straight shutouts, matched the program's single-season wins record with 15 victories, and allowed only 13 goals all year. Over the course of the season, the Pioneers scored 41 goals, conceded just 13, and earned 11 shutouts. They also enter Sunday on a six-match winning streak. Texas Woman's balanced attack, organized midfield, and disciplined defensive line have all fueled the team's rise heading into the title match.

  • KEYS TO THE GAME: TAKE IT TO THE PATRIOTS >> DBU may have won the regular-season meeting, but TWU is playing their best soccer of the year. The Pioneers will need to stay locked in, treat this as a brand-new matchup, and trust the defensive identity that carried them into the final. TWU must capitalize on transition moments and remain composed in big-game situations to keep pace with the nation's No. 1 team on Championship Sunday.

Coach Abouzar and the Pioneers look to secure their first LSC Championship tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Dallas.
