TEMPE, Ariz. (Feb. 7, 2025) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team goes on the road for their fifth meet of the season.
TWU compete against Arizona State on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. CST in a dual meet.
The Pioneers have only met the Sundevils twice – in 2017 and 2019. In 2017, the two teams met at a neutral site in Denver, Colo. Then, most recently, in 2019, TWU faced ASU in Denton, Texas in a dual meet. The Pioneers scored a 193.550 and the Sundevils scored a 195.675.
Most recently, TWU defeated Air Force at home on Feb. 2. The Pioneers won the meet with a 194.075. TWU's season high score came on Jan. 17 in a home tri-meet against Southeast Missouri State and West Chester when the Pioneers scored a 194.875.
On the other side, ASU last competed on Friday, Jan. 31 on the road at Iowa State. In the win over Iowa State, the Sundevils scored a season high 195.950. They last competed at home on Jan. 26 and lost to No. 19 Arizona.
The Pioneers also recently celebrated two Midwest Independent Conference Weekly Awards.
Bailey Upton, who competed on vault, beam and floor and scored a 9.700 or higher in all three, was named the MIC Newcomer of the Week. Additionally,
Kyleigh Ghanbari matched her career high with a 9.875 and earned the MIC Performance of the Week honor.
