PIONEERS TAKE NO. 2 UCO TO FOUR SETS

EDMOND, Okla. (Sept. 16, 2025) – On Tuesday night, the Texas Woman's volleyball team traveled to Edmond, Okla. to face the recently named No. 2 Central Oklahoma Bronchos.

TWU (6-3) handed UCO (10-0) their first set loss of the season, claiming the second set, but fell to the Bronchos in four sets.

The Pioneers won the blocking battle, 9-6, owning the most blocks by a Bronchos opponent this season. Additionally, TWU claimed the highest hitting percentage allowed by UCO this season, hitting .177 on the night. Nevertheless, UCO hit .218 and connected on 12 service aces to claim the match win.

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Tori Woods led the attack for TWU with a season high 15 kills and hit .302 on the night. She also added seven digs to her stat line.
  • Kiana Reed topped the TWU leader board in assists with 21 and in digs with 18. She additionally recorded two service aces. With her assists and digs, Reed recorded her fourth double-double of the season.
  • Alyssa Rojo posted her first double-double of the season with 11 assists and 16 digs.
  • Myracle Stockman celebrated a season high four total blocks on the night. Stockman and Jonaida Donowa led TWU with four total blocks each.
KEY MOMENTS
  • In set one, the Pioneers started off strong. A kill by Sydney Garrison and a block by Stockman and Donowa opened the match 2-0 in favor of TWU. After a kill by Woods gave the Pioneers a 3-1 advantage, the tide turned and UCO mounted a 12-1 run. The Pioneers would string together two 3-0 runs late in the set; however, they were unable to overcome the early deficit and would fall 25-14.
  • TWU regrouped and found their momentum in set two. They opened set two with six straight unanswered points. After starting the set 6-0, they would cruise to a quick 10-3 advantage to make a statement in set two.
  • The Pioneers limited the scoring runs of the Bronchos in set two and played great defense. Ahead 10-5, TWU would increase their lead after five straight attack errors by UCO, which included two blocks by TWU.
  • To close the set, TWU kept their foot on the gas and held off late runs by UCO. A kill by Stockman brought up set point, and an attack error by the Bronchos ended the set for TWU, 25-18.
  • The Bronchos opened set three with three straight points, but TWU quickly drew within one 4-3. Late in the set, the Pioneers struggled to piece together runs and gave up a 6-1 run to UCO, as they fell in set three, 25-16.
  • TWU and UCO traded runs to open set four, as the Pioneers battled to keep the match alive. A kill by Stockman would give TWU a one-point advantage, 7-6. Then, UCO mounted a 7-1 run to go ahead, 13-8. The Pioneers were able to side-out often, but they could not string together runs to put more pressure on UCO, as the Bronchos won the set, 25-16, to win the match.
NEXT UP

TWU will host the Conference Challenge this weekend, in which they will face fellow Lone Star Conference opponents St. Mary's and Dallas Baptist in two nonconference meetings. The Pioneers will meet St. Mary's on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in KMA. Then, they will host DBU on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. in KMA.
