DENTON, Texas (Sept. 26, 2025) The Texas Woman's volleyball team prepares to meet Dallas Baptist on Saturday afternoon in a Lone Star Conference match at home in Kitty Magee Arena at 2 p.m.

TWU (7-5, 0-1) and DBU (6-2, 0-0) are both looking to gain early ground in conference play.

The Pioneers are coming off a tough three-set loss to Texas A&M–Kingsville in their LSC opener. Just last weekend, TWU notched a big wins, defeating DBU in a five-set thriller at home on Sept. 20.

On the other side, the Lady Patriots enter at 6-2 overall. DBU has been consistent through non-conference play, with their only two losses coming before the conference slate began.

PIONEERS VS. LADY PATRIOTS
  • HISTORY WITH DBU: The Pioneers hold a 22-20 edge all-time against the Lady Patriots. Earlier this season, TWU snapped a long drought by defeating DBU 3-2 at home (18-25, 27-29, 25-16, 25-18, 17-15), beating them in KMA for the first time since 2018. At home, TWU is 11-7 against DBU, while the Lady Patriots have a 12-9 advantage in Dallas. In their match this season, TWU reverse swept DBU. Their success came majorly from the block, as the Pioneers set two program records: most total blocks in a match (20) and most block assists in a match (36). The Pioneers will look to once again be strong at the net on Saturday.
  • CLOSE IN STANDINGS: TWU and DBU enter Saturday's match with nearly identical numbers across the board, highlighting just how evenly matched these two squads are. The Pioneers are averaging 12.2 kills per set with a .207 hitting percentage, while the Lady Patriots hold a slight edge at 12.8 kills per set on a .215 hitting percentage. Defensively, TWU maintains the advantage, posting 17.8 digs per set and 2.4 blocks per set, compared to DBU's 17.7 digs and 2.1 blocks. From the service line, TWU averages 2.0 aces per set, narrowly ahead of DBU's 1.9. With both teams excelling in different areas, Saturday's match-up is expected to be a tightly contested battle decided by execution in key moments.
  • A LOOK AT A COMMON OPPONENT: Both teams have already faced St. Mary's this season with different outcomes. On Sept. 18, TWU dropped a 1-3 decision at home (21-25, 13-25, 25-22, 20-25), recording four service aces and two blocks in the match. Meanwhile, DBU swept St. Mary's, hitting .250 as a team and finishing with 10 service aces. The comparison highlights DBU's serving strength and offensive efficiency, while the Pioneers will look to improve their consistency and presence at the net to defend the Lady Patriots for the second time this season.
