DAVIS, Calif. (Jan. 29, 2026) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team is back on the road this week for a two-meet weekend in California.
TWU will meet UC Davis in a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. CT. Then, on Sunday, Feb. 1, the Pioneers will compete in a tri meet hosted by San Jose State and featuring Southern Utah at 2 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. CT.
In California, TWU will look to bounce back from their road meet last week in Temple.
HEADED TO SUNNY CALIFORNIA
MARCH-IN
- HISTORY: The Pioneers have met UC Davis twice previously. They are 0-2 all-time against the Aggies. Both of their meetings have come in Davis, Calif., with the most recent meeting in 2022, where the Pioneers scored a 194.275. TWU is also 0-2 all-time against San Jose State, with both meetings happening in Sacramento, Calif. In 2022, the Pioneers narrowly fell to the Spartans, scoring a 195.425. This marks the first meeting for TWU against Southern Utah.
- A LOOK AT UC DAVIS: The Aggies currently rank 48th in the nation. Their highest event ranking is on beam at 39. They have competed in three meets so far this season, and their season high of 194.775 came last week on Jan. 23 at a quad meet featuring Sacramento State, UW-Whitewater and Western Michigan. UC Davis claimed the win at the quad meet. Their highest event score came on beam of a 48.900. The Aggies were led by Amelia Moneymaker who scored a 9.900 to claim the event title.
- A LOOK AT SAN JOSE STATE: The Spartans currently rank 33rd in the nation. Additionally, they are ranked in the top 20 on vault, sitting at 18th. Their leader on vault is Mikaela Pitts, who has a season high of 9.925. They opened the season with two scores over 195. They posted their season high in their season opener of a 195.175 at the Arizona State Tri Meet, where they claimed the meet win. Most recently, the Spartans competed on the road against Utah State and scored a 194.675. Sunday will mark San Jose State's first home meet of the season.
- A LOOK AT SOUTHERN UTAH: The Flippin' Birds currently rank 27th in the nation. They have scored a 195.550 or higher in all three of their meets in 2026. To open the season, they scored back-to-back 195.675s. They rank in the top 25 in beam (21st) and floor (25th). Niya Randolph and Mia Hampton both lead Southern Utah on beam with season highs of 9.875s. Berlin Hall leads the Flippin' Birds on floor with a season high of 9.875. Most recently, Southern Utah scored a 195.550 on the road at Utah State.
- PIONEERS LAST MEET: Last week, the Pioneers went on the road for their first road meet of the season. While scoring a season low, TWU will look to respond on the road this week. TWU was led in the meet with a strong individual performance from Sophia Isbell, who was named the MIC Gymnast of the Week and earned the Co-MIC Performance of the Week honor. Isbell competed in vault, beam and floor. She claimed the Performance of the Week honor on vault with her third straight 9.825 to claim the event title. She also matched her career high on floor with a 9.850 and posted a 9.775 on beam. Bailey Bourgeois led the Pioneers on bars with a 9.725. Along with Isbell, Ruby Goad also posted a 9.775 on beam for TWU. The Pioneers currently rank 39th in the nation.
