DENTON, Texas (Feb. 25, 2026) - With two games remaining in the regular season, the second week of the NCAA South Central Regional rankings were released Wednesday, and the Pioneers claimed the No. 1 spot.
Lone Star Conference affiliates West Texas A&M (24-3) debuted at No. 2, while Lubbock Christian (21-6) came in at No. 4. Eastern New Mexico (17-9) rounded out the top eight, and St. Mary's (15-9) followed in ninth. Of the teams ranked in the South Central Region, six represent the Lone Star Conference and four come from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The NCAA will release regional rankings weekly leading up to the Selection Show on Sunday, March 8.
After earning the No. 1 national ranking in Tuesday's WBCA poll, Texas Woman's (24-1, 18-0 LSC) holds the top spot in the South Central Region entering the final week of the regular season.
TWU has won 23 consecutive games and completed a perfect 13-0 road record in conference play. The Pioneers rank second in the LSC in scoring offense at 70.6 points per game and lead the conference in field goal percentage at 45.3%, which ranks 11th nationally in NCAA Division II. Head coach Beth Jillson's squad also tops the league in free throw percentage at 77.1%.
Defensively, TWU ranks second in the conference in scoring defense, allowing 54.7 points per game, and third in rebounding defense at 31.7 rebounds allowed per contest. The Pioneers also rank third in the LSC with a 0.97 assist-to-turnover ratio.
TWU will host Texas A&M International on Thursday at Kitty Magee Arena.
