DENTON, Texas (Feb. 24, 2026) - The Texas Woman's basketball team moved up to No. 1 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association National Poll, after victories last week over UT Tyler and UT Dallas.
With the two wins, the Pioneers climbed one spot to claim the top ranking.Â
TWU has won 23 straight games since an early-season loss and finished the regular season with a perfect 13-0 record on the road in Lone Star Conference play.Â
Offensively, TWU ranks second in the LSC in scoring at 70.6 points per game and shoots a conference-best 45.3% from the field, a mark that ranks 11th nationally in NCAA Division II. The Pioneers also lead the league in free throw percentage at 77.1%.
Defensively, TWU ranks second in the conference in scoring defense, allowing just 54.7 points per game, and third in rebounding defense at 31.7 rebounds allowed per contest. The Pioneers are also third in the LSC with a 0.97 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Elsewhere in the poll, LSC foe West Texas A&M (24-3) jumped four spots to No. 7. Lubbock Christian (21-6) fell out of the top 25 after splitting games against Angelo State and UTPB. South Central Region opponent Colorado Mesa (28-1) remained at No. 4.
Minnesota State Mankato (27-1) dropped from No. 1 to No. 3 following a 21-point loss to Concordia-St. Paul, while Grand Valley State (25-1) moved up one spot to No. 2 behind the Pioneers.
