TIP-OFF TIME

  • HISTORY: TWU is 12-3 all-time against Texas A&M International, with their most recent matchup coming in December when the Pioneers secured a 71-55 victory. TWU holds a 9-3 record in conference games against the Dustdevils. Against Texas A&M-Kingsville, the Pioneers lead the all-time series 39-32 dating back to 1988. The two teams last met in December as well, with TWU earning a 52-41 win over the Javelinas.

  • A LOOK AT THE DUSTDEVILS: Texas A&M International battled early in its last outing against West Texas A&M, closing the first quarter tied and trailing by just five at halftime. The Dustdevils controlled the paint and stayed even on the boards through the first half, highlighted by double-doubles from Racheal Emmanuel (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Bridgette Tello (10 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists). TAMIU finished with an edge in points in the paint and matched its opponent in second-chance points, but struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 11.1% from three-point range. The Dustdevils average 64.1 points per game, 33.6% on shooting, and 28.6% from beyond the arc.

  • A LOOK AT THE JAVELINAS: Texas A&M-Kingsville closed out its home slate with a narrow 57-56 loss to Eastern New Mexico, coming up just short on a potential game-winner at the buzzer. The Javelinas had two players eclipse 20 points for the first time this season and outscored their opponent in the fourth quarter for the second straight game. After a slow start and a double-digit deficit in the first half, Kingsville responded with a 12-0 run to swing momentum and later used an 11-3 surge in the fourth quarter to briefly take the lead. Despite the late push, the Javelinas were edged in the final minutes. The Javelinas average 54.5 points per game, 39.3% on shooting, and 29% from beyond the arc.
