DENTON, Texas (Sept. 15, 2026) - The Texas Woman's soccer team will continue Lone Star Conference play this week after opening conference play with a perfect 2-0 record. The Pioneers (6-0, 2-0) will head to Canyon on Wednesday to face West Texas A&M (1-3-2, 0-1-1) at The Pitch, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. They will then return home to host Sul Ross State (0-4-1, 0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m. for Senior Day at Pioneer Soccer Park.

TWU has been dominant on both ends of the field through the opening six matches of the 2026 season, posting a perfect 6-0 record while outscoring opponents 16-1. The Pioneers are averaging 2.67 goals per game on 17.5 shots per match, while allowing just 5.3 shots per game and one goal all season. Goalkeeper Faith Graves has anchored the defense with seven saves, a 0.17 goals-against average and four shutouts, while the Pioneers have recorded five clean sheets as a team.

The Pioneers have outshot their opponents 105-32 and hold a commanding 39-10 advantage in corner kicks. TWU has also put 59 shots on goal compared with just nine for its opponents, showcasing the team's ability to control possession, dictate the pace and consistently create pressure in the attacking third.

With a 6-0 start and a 2-0 conference record, TWU enters its upcoming matchup with West Texas A&M carrying significant momentum. The Pioneers have won their last three meetings with the Lady Buffs, including a 2-1 victory in 2025.

Now riding a six-game winning streak, TWU looks to stay focused and take things one game at a time as conference play heats up.

PIONEERS HEADED TO CANYON

• A LOOK AT WEST TEXAS A&M: West Texas A&M enters the matchup with TWU looking to build momentum after opening the season 1-3-2, 0-1-1. The Lady Buffs earned a 3-0 victory over New Mexico Highlands  back on Aug. 29, but were most recently defeated by DBU, 4-0, at home Saturday morning. With both teams looking to establish themselves in the early Lone Star Conference race, West Texas A&M will look to use its home-field advantage and defensive strength to bounce back against the Pioneers.

LOBOS SET TO VISIT DENTON

• A LOOK AT SUL ROSS STATE: Sul Ross State (0-4-1, 0-2) is still searching for its first win of the season after falling 3-0 in its recent matchup with UTD. The Lobos will take on Lubbock Christian before making the trip to Denton on Wednesday. Sul Ross State will look to build momentum heading into its matchup with TWU and challenge the Pioneers on their home field.

• A  LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU's defense has been a staple of the team's success this season. Coach Abouzar and his squad have continued to find success with their defensive-minded approach, holding opponents to just 5.3 shots per game and 32 total shots on the season, compared with 105 shots for the Pioneers, who are averaging 17.5 shots per game. The Pioneers have allowed just one goal this season, which came against Hawai'i Pacific. Goalkeeper Faith Graves recorded four saves on 11 shots faced and earned the win in both matches, playing all 180 minutes in goal. Most recently, Graves was named Lone Star Conference Player of the Week for the first time this season for the Pioneers and the second time in her career. The No. 15 Pioneers came out on top 2-0 and 4-0 in their last two matches, first at home and then in Austin, scoring six goals in two games from four different players. Over the last two matches, the Pioneers have recorded 36 total shots and put 21 on goal for a 58.3% shots-on-goal rate, while recording two assists on their six goals against the Eagles and Hilltoppers.

TWU will visit WT on Wednesday night at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas, at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Pioneers are back at Pioneer Soccer Park for their matchup with the Lobos from Sul Ross State at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
