DENTON, Texas (Sept. 15, 2026) - The Texas Woman's soccer team remained in the NCAA Division II IWSOC Top 25 Coaches Poll on Tuesday, earning the No. 16 spot after opening the season with a perfect 6-0 record.

The Pioneers dropped one spot from No. 15 in last week's national poll despite remaining unbeaten through the first six matches of the season. TWU's No. 16 ranking is the second-highest in program history, following the Pioneers' No. 15 ranking last week and in 2017.

"We're proud of the way our team has started the season, but our focus remains on continuing to improve and taking care of what we can control," Head Coach Babak Abouzar said. "Rankings are going to move throughout the season, but our standards don't change. We're focused on getting better every day, competing together and putting ourselves in the best position possible for the challenges ahead."

TWU remains ranked No. 3 in the South Central Region. The Lone Star Conference has two teams in this week's national Top 25, with Dallas Baptist ranked No. 3 and TWU at No. 16. Midwestern State also received votes in this week's national poll after opening the season with a 6-0 record, including a 2-0 mark in conference play.

The Pioneers are one of six teams in this week's national Top 25 with a perfect record. TWU's 6-0 start is tied for the best record among teams ranked in the South Central Region.

TWU returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 16, when the Pioneers travel to Canyon, Texas, to face West Texas A&M at 7 p.m. The Pioneers then return home Saturday, Sept. 19, for Senior Day against Sul Ross State.
