DENTON, Texas (Feb. 15, 2017) – Texas Woman's University basketball hosts their final homestand of the season beginning with a Thursday matchup at 7 p.m. against Texas A&M-Commerce inside Kitty Magee Arena.

Game Promotions
The Pioneers will be supporting breast cancer awareness through the "Play4Kay" initiative. T-shirts may be purchased for $10 with the proceeds benefitting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. A pink ribbon will be hung for every three-point basket made in the game by the Pioneers, and following the game fans will be asked to donate for every ribbon hanging.
Overflow will be giving away shirts to the first 250 fans, and several TWU clubs and organizations will be showcased.

TWU sits in sixth place within the Lone Star standings following a 1-1 weekend in New Mexico.
Kenesha Saygo propelled herself into first within the LSC scoring ranks following her 36-point outburst at ENMU Saturday to average 18.9 points per game. She also ranks first in free throw attempts (143), third in free throws made (98), fifth in field-goal percentage (.441) and sixth in both field goals attempted (281) and field goals made (124).
Grace Mitchell is fifth in blocked shots (25), and
Alexis Nezianya ranks eighth in offensive rebounds per outing (2.3).
About the Lions
TAMUC sits in fourth spot in the LSC and earned a sixth-place ranking in the first release of the South Central Regional poll. The Lions lead the nation in free throws made (494), are second in attempts (663) and eighth in rebounds per game (45.2). Khala Riley sits first in the LSC in made free throws (104) and is second in assists (113), while Jenna Price is tops in rebounds (210).

The Pioneers hold a 43-34 all-time advantage over the Lions with the squads splitting a pair of meetings the past three seasons. TWU has set two individual game records while playing the Lions, as Brooke Shepherd knocked down 10 three-pointers six seasons ago, and Renee Renz tallied 23 rebounds during the 2008-09 season.

COMMERCE, Texas (Jan. 14, 2017) –
Emily Spector and
Kenesha Saygo of Texas Woman's University combined for 18 points in the final five minutes and connected on their last eight free throw attempts to thwart Texas A&M-Commerce during a 75-69 win Saturday afternoon inside The Field House.
The Pioneers (11-5, 4-4 LSC) spoiled TAMUC's bid for their best start in program history and handed the Lions (10-4, 5-3 LSC) their first home loss of the season. Spector was a catalyst on both ends of the floor and notched her second double-double of the season with game-highs of 23 points and 10 boards while collecting three steals and a block. Saygo registered 19 points and four steals as the duo scored 27 of the team's final 28 points.

SILVER CITY, N.M. (Feb. 11, 2017) - The defense of Texas Woman's University held Western New Mexico to a less than 27-percent shooting performance from the field in a 78-52 win Saturday afternoon on Drag's Court with
Kenesha Saygo leading the Pioneers with 19 points.
TWU (15-9, 8-8 LSC) held the Mustangs (4-19, 0-16 LSC) to 19-of-71 on field goals for their best defensive outcome on the season and limited Jordan Gutierrez, the conference's second leading scorer, to 11 points on 4-of-27 shooting. The Pioneers also matched their largest rebounding margin on the year by grabbing 55 boards compared to 38 from WNMU. Offensively,
Kara Mitchell totaled 11 points, while
Emily Spector and
Morgan Easley each added nine.
LSC Basketball Championship: Advance tickets on sale
Advance tickets for the 2017 Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship will be on sale at TWU during the Feb. 16 and 18 games (cash only) with adult all-session passes $15 off the regular price until February 28.
The LSC Championship will be held March 2-5 at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. This year the event will start on Thursday and conclude Sunday.
Fans can save $15 off the regular price for all-session passes and avoid fees by making an on-campus advance purchase. The adult all-session ticket grants access to all seven sessions at a reduced rate of $45. The adult price increases to $60 for all-session tickets or $15 per session for those not purchased through LSC schools by February 28.
Student single-session tickets are $10 at participating schools and the Allen Event Center Box Office for University students with valid school I.D. (any institution) or children ages 2-18.
Tickets will be available at the Allen Event Center Box Office or through Ticketmaster (
www.ticketmaster.com) starting Jan. 26.
This marks the sixth straight year for the LSC Basketball Championship to be played in Allen, with the tournament featuring the top eight men's and eight women's teams. The games will be played in doubleheader sessions throughout the event with a women's game followed by a men's game, including Sunday's final session starting at 1 p.m. that features both the men's and women's championship games.
