TWU climbed above .500 at 7-6 in the LSC standings with Thursday's 78-74 win at UT Permian Basin. Kenesha Saygo continues to lead the league in scoring (18.4), and ranks second in free throw attempts (116), fourth in free throws made (81) and seventh in field-goal percentage (.430). Grace Mitchell is sixth in blocked shots per game (1.1), and Alexis Nezianya ranks eighth in offensive rebounds per outing (2.3).

WT enters the contest on a three-game win streak, capped by a 69-55 win at UTPB Tuesday. A 62-59 TWU win at home Dec. 8 snapped a five-season losing streak to WT, as the Lady Buffs now lead the all-time series over the Pioneers, 52-6, dating to the 1974-75 season. Before Dec. 8, TWU's most recent victory occurred during the 2010-11 season at the quarterfinals of the LSC Tournament in a 57-56 win.

DENTON, Texas (Dec. 8, 2016) – Kenesha Saygo scored a season and game-high 28 points to lead Texas Woman's University to a 62-59 win over No. 17 West Texas A&M Thursday night inside Kitty Magee Arena to give the Pioneers their first win over the Lady Buffs since the 2010-11 season.
 
The scoring by Saygo and WT's Sasha Watson headlined the contest, as Watson delivered 21 of her team-high 27 points in the first half while Saygo tossed in 20 after the break. As a team, TWU also performed their best work in the second half. The Pioneers turned the ball over just twice compared to 12 miscues in the first two quarters and held the Lady Buffs to 17 fewer points over the final 20 minutes.

ODESSA, Texas (Feb. 2, 2017) - Texas Woman's University nearly squandered a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter before prevailing 78-74 over UT Permian Basin as Emily Spector and Kenesha Saygo each registered double-doubles Thursday evening inside The Falcon Dome.
 
Saygo's 22 points and 10 rebounds marked her second career double-double, while Spector's 20 and 10 made up the sixth of her TWU tenure. Alexis Nezianya also scored in double figures with 12 points. The game was contrasted in the first and fourth quarters, with TWU (14-7, 7-6 LSC) outscoring UTPB (7-14, 3-11 LSC) 28-16 in the opening period, while the Falcons reversed roles in the final stanza by racking up 27 points compared to 12 by the Pioneers.
 
Saygo chosen as LSC Offensive Player of the Week following career weekend
RICHARDSON, Texas (Jan. 30, 2017) – Kenesha Saygo of Texas Woman's University was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts last week against Texas A&M-Kingsville and No. 15 Angelo State, as announced by the league office Monday.
 
Saygo moved up to fifth all-time in scoring at TWU following a 25-point performance against TAMUK and a career-high 33 points versus ASU, the second-highest single-game output within the LSC this season.  The senior guard's record-setting performance included an 11-of-19 performance from the field and 15 tries from the free throw line, which also set a career-high. Throughout the two contests, Saygo averaged 29 points on 56-percent shooting and grabbed 5.5 rebounds.
 
This honor marks the second for Saygo this season and third of her career.
