Box Score TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma (Nov. 20, 2019) – After allowing Northeastern State to crawl back into the game, Texas Woman's went on a 12-0 run throughout a four-minute span of the final quarter to take down the River Hawks 60-47 on Wednesday night.

Brielle Woods combined for 10 points during that crucial run, while TWU shot 84.6% in the final quarter to close out the game.
The Pioneers (2-1) gave up a season-low 47 points and limited NSU (2-2) to 21% shooting from the field, who had been averaging around 40% at home before Wednesday night.
"I've talked before about our team needing to play great defense on the road," head coach
Beth Jillson said. "We really talk a lot about staying connected on the floor. We took away the three-point shot and stayed in good rotation to take some charges and grab the backside boards."

Ma'K'La Woods led the way with 12 points apiece.
The Pioneers also outrebounded NSU 38-26 and collected 10 second chance points, which kept TWU alive when they hit a cold spell in the third period.
"Earning second chance points was huge for us tonight," Jillson said. "We had a cold third quarter, and I felt like we kept ourselves alive with second chance opportunities."
TWU scored the first six points of the game to jump ahead of the River Hawks. The Pioneers would finish the first half leading 28-17 and held the River Hawks' sharp shooters to one of 11 from the three-point line.
The Pioneers went cold in the third quarter and got outscored 18-10, allowing NSU to rally behind a crowd and close the TWU lead to three points heading into the final 10 minutes.
After blowing a lead in its previous loss to SEOSU, the Pioneers were adamanent about closing this game out. TWU took over in the final quarter and outscored the River Hawks by 10 points to earn its first road win of the season.
TWU will begin Lone Star Conference play on Saturday in Stephenville against Tarleton State (3-0). Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Wisdom Gymnasium.
