RICHARDSON, Texas (October 24, 2022) – For the first time since the 1990-91 season, a Texas Woman's University basketball player has been voted as the Lone Star Conference Preseason Player of the Year.

For the 2022-23 season, sophomore Ashley Ingram was voted as the LSC Preseason Player, the first TWU player since Peggy Allen McCoy in 1990-91.

"Ashley has proven she is ready for the moment," TWU Head Coach Beth Jillson said. "Last season, she not only stepped up on the court, but she worked to be an encouraging leader on our team. This offseason, Ashley has worked to grow stronger and continue to elevate her game. This award for Ashley is a testament to the hard work she puts in, the positive impact she makes on and off the court and the strength of our team as a whole. Ashley is a humble player, which is incredible, so I am so happy for her to receive this honor ahead of the season."

Ashley Ingram, the 2021-22 LSC Freshman of the Year, lead the Pioneers in points per game, averaging 14.5. On the season, she scored a total of 392 points on the season. She also shot 49.1% from the field on the season.

Ingram finished the season with 30 blocks, 33 steal and six double-doubles (points and rebounds).

She scored a career high 30 points against Midwestern State on January 20, 2022, and she grabbed a career high 15 rebounds in the Pioneers' win over UT Tyler on December 20, 2022.

In addition to being named Freshman of the Year, Ingram was named to the LSC All-Freshman Team and First Team All-LSC. During the season, she was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week three times.

After her impressive freshman season, Ingram was named to the D2CCA All-South Central Region Second Team.

Ingram was voted the Preseason Player of the Year by Lone Star Conference women's basketball coaches, sports information directors and media members. Ingram was also selected as a Preseason Player to Watch.

Ingram and the Pioneers will kick off the 2022-23 season on the road in the Conference Challenge at Western Colorado on November 11 at 5 p.m.
