DENTON, Texas (Feb. 11, 2022) – On Friday night, dreams came true in Kitty Magee Arena.

On February 13, 2020, Texas Woman's University announced the addition of a STUNT program to Pioneer athletics. Two years later (almost to the day) the TWU STUNT team hosted and competed in its first competition in program history.

"I could not be happier," TWU head coach Jasmine Owens said. "I could not be prouder of our team. We talked before the game about what defined winning for us and that was just going out there and doing our absolute best."

The Pioneers competed in three games in their inaugural tournament, going against Texas Tech University, University of Texas – Tyler and Dallas Baptist University.

Against these experienced programs, the Pioneers made some noise by putting multiple points on the board in every single game.

"Starting off to get points in every single game was amazing" Owens said. "Scoring against a well experienced team like Texas Tech really got us going."

The strongest quarter for the Pioneers was jumps and tumbling, in which they scored their highest number of points. In their second game against UT-Tyler, the Pioneers scored a point in every single round of Quarter 3, jumps and tumbling.

"We got so many points in jumps and tumbling, which I can tell is definitely one of our strong suits," Owens said. "I am proud of how well we scored in that quarter, and I cannot wait to watch this team continue to get stronger in every single area.

strattonSince tonight was the only home event for the Pioneers, they also celebrated their senior and captain Stratton Stiefvater.
