DENTON, Texas (March 23, 2022) – Alyssa Taramona, an accomplished goalkeeper and experienced head coach, was hired as the Texas Woman's University soccer Assistant Coach on Wednesday, March 23.

"We are very excited to welcome Alyssa to TWU," TWU head coach Babak Abouzar. "She brings a relentless work ethic that will help in the continued elevation of our program. She truly cares about our student-athletes and growing them as people in their time at TWU, while also sharing her knowledge of the game. As a former player and coach at St. Mary's, she is very familiar with the competitive nature of our conference. I look forward to working with Alyssa as she adds value to our program."

Most recently, Taramona served as the women's soccer head coach at LeTourneau University, a Division III program in Longview, Texas. During her two-season stint with the YellowJackets, Taramona's team earned 10 All-American Southwest Conference Academic Team honors, two All-District Academic selections and eight All-American Southwest Conference Team accolades.

Taramona was named to the United Soccer Coaches 2021-22 Under 30 program in October 2021.

Prior to coaching at LeTourneau, Taramona was the women's soccer head coach at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas for one season.

During her personal career, Taramona, a native of Forney, Texas, played at fellow Lone Star Conference school St. Mary's University, while the Rattlers were still a member of the Heartland Conference. A four-year letter winner, Taramona earned All-Heartland Conference honors during her time as a Rattler.

Taramona also still holds the St. Mary's records for most saves in a season (101 in 2014), most career saves (261 from 2012-2015), and most career shutouts (15).

After graduating with her undergraduate degree in exercise and sport science from St. Mary's, Taramona stayed with the Rattlers and served as a graduate assistant, while earning her master's degree in educational leadership. In her three years on the coaching staff, Taramona helped guide the Rattlers to 13 shutout performances.

Taramona has a goalkeeping Level 1 diploma and has earned her United States Soccer Federation D License. She also has received advanced technical training in the following areas: developing a team philosophy and purpose, and creating talent- how to get the best from soccer and passing patterns and functional training.

"I am humbled and excited to be chosen as the next assistant soccer coach at Texas Woman's University," Taramona said. "I want to thank Coach Babak Abouzar for the opportunity to join his coaching staff and for his belief that I can positively contribute to the success of his program. I am looking forward to helping the student-athletes and program achieve their goals while immersing myself into the Pioneer traditions."
