DENTON, Texas (Jan. 21, 2023) - Texas Woman's wrestling took winning to the next level in their defeat over University of the Ozarks 30-13.
The Pioneers recorded their largest margin of victory in Kitty Magee Arena on Saturday night after defeating the Eagles by 17 points.
Six Pioneers recorded points for the night including Mackenzie Peterson (109), Mercedes Nerios (123), Laisha Rios (130), Kira Phillips (136), Poorna Babu (143), and Nari Miller (170).
Peterson in the 109 weight class was first to the mat and recorded a win by technical fall against Isabella Cruz for four points.
With 1:26 left on the clock Rios recorded five points against Rosemond Wade.
Nerios, Phillips, Babu, and Miller won by forfeit for a total of five points each.
On Monday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. the Pioneers will be hitting the mat for their last home dual of their inaugural season. It will be a night to remember for senior Mercedes Nerios as we celebrate her contribution to the team and honoring TWU faculty and staff for their continued commitment to students throughout the university.
