DENTON, Texas (Oct. 3, 2023) - The Texas Woman's soccer team continues to produce Lone Star Conference top players. Amanda Farris and Erica Brelove earned LSC Goalkeeper and Defensive Player of the Week.

TWU is the LSC team with more Players of the Week so far this season. Farris and Brelove mark the sixth and seventh time a Pioneers is honored by the LSC.

"What else can be said about these two players?," TWU Head Coach Babak asked. "Amanda has been a stalwart for our team in goal this season. She came up with a huge penalty kick save last Wednesday and some key shot stops on Saturday. In both games her play was crucial to our success. Erica continues to be a shut down defender in our back line. From stopping opponents promising attacks to scoring goals she is doing it all. She has done a tremendous job transitioning into the collegiate game."

For the third time this season, Farris was named LSC Goalkeeper of the Week. She is one of only two Pioneers in program history to earn this award three times in one season, alongside Nori Morgan who did it in 2009.

The Pioneer's goalkeeper had incredible saves this past week against Oklahoma Christian and Texas A&M International. Against OC, Farris saved a penalty kick and recorded four saves. Her efforts kept the Pioneers leading 1-0. She also had two crucial saves against TAMIU on Saturday night in the 24th and 60th minutes.

Farris has been leading the LSC boards in goals against average, saves and shutouts per game for the last 4 weeks. She is currently the only goalkeeper in the conference to have allowed only two games this season.

Brelove fueled the Pioneers who logged two conference shutouts this past week, and she played all 180 minutes against the Eagles and the Dustdevils. The freshman scored the game winning goal in the match against Oklahoma Christian. Brelove was one of only two defenders to score for the LSC on Wednesday night. This goal marks the second one of her career.

Brelove's offensive and defensive efforts have contributed significantly to Pioneer's successful season, who are currently sitting at the top of the LSC standings.
