DENTON, Texas (Dec. 12, 2023) - The United Soccer Coaches announced their 2023 NCAA All-Region teams. Two Pioneers were named All-South Central Region Second Team for the second time in program history.

Erica Brelove and Amanda Farris were among the best 24 players of the NCAA Division II South Central Region.

"Amanda and Erica played a tremendous part in our success this season," TWU Head Coach Babak Abouzar said. "Amanda was steady for us all season long coming up with big time saves and Erica was the anchor of our back line while also scoring some key goals throughout the year. It is great to see them receive this award voted on by our opponents coaches."

Back in 2018, Haley Ward became the first Pioneer in program history to earn a spot in the All-South Central Regional Second Team. Since then, Brelove and Farris are the only other two Pioneers to be named by the United Soccer Coaches to be part of this squad.

Twelve players were selected to the All-Region Second Team.

Texas Woman's, St. Mary's and Colorado Mesa were the only three schools to have two players be a part of the All-South Central Region Second Team. The other six players come from Angelo State, Colorado School of Mines, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Midwestern State, Regis and Lubbock Christian.

"I am thrilled and honored to receive this award," TWU's goalkeeper Farris said. "It is not only a reflection of myself and our defense, but our team as a whole and how much we have worked and gone through to get to where we are today. I can't thank my coaches and teammates enough because none of this would be possible without them supporting me every step of the way."

"I am super excited to have received this award because it shows how my hard work and dedication has paid off this season," the freshman defender Brelove said.

Brelove and Farris were part of the Pioneer's defensive back line that became one of the most effective teams defensively in the nation this season. The team only allowed seven goals in 19 games, which ranked them second in the nation in goals-against average.

Farris, a transfer student from University of Houston, was rock solid on goal. The junior gave the Pioneers a lot of confidence under the goal post, and showed up when the team needed her.

Despite being a freshman, Brelove demonstrated to be a fundamental piece for the team. Her efforts both defensively and offensively contributed significantly to the Pioneer's success this season.
