WCGA RELEASE
MARLBORO, NEW JERSEY (March 23, 2023) – The Texas Woman's University gymnastics team claimed seven Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Division II regular season All-America honors, the most in the past three seasons.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the WCGA announced the Division II regular season All-America awards- first and second team.
According to the WCGA, "the student-athlete with the top National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), for each event plus the all-around earn All-America honors. Second-team All-America honors are earned by the second place student-athlete (with ties) in NQS."
For the second time in her career,
Daisy Woodring earned All-America honors on vault. With the highest NQS in Division II of 9.835, Woodring claimed first team honors. In 2022, Woodring was named to the second team.
The Pioneers swept the honors on vault, as
Madeline Gose earned Second Team All-America honors with a 9.780 NQS. The honor represents Gose's third of her career but first on vault.
Soaring to new heights, TWU swept the uneven bars awards as well.
Maddie Griffith posted the highest NQS on bars, a 9.820, to be named a First Team All-American. On second team,
Brooke Ferrari tied for the second-highest NQS with a 9.800 to be named an All-American in her first year of collegiate competition.
Alix Pierce earned first team honors on beam with the top Division II NQS of 9.840 and first team honors on floor with a 9.855 NQS.
The Pioneers swept the floor awards, as Woodring was named a Second Team All-American on floor with a 9.835 NQS.
"I am beyond proud of each of these student-athletes and all they have accomplished during the regular season," TWU Head Coach
Lisa Bowerman said. "Their consistency in competition is a testament to the focus and effort they put into every day of practice."
