SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Oct 18, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team hits the road to San Antonio for a conference battle against St. Mary's tomorrow, Oct. 19, at Sigma Beta Chi Field. The match begins at 1 p.m.

In recent meetings, the Pioneers have struggled to secure a win over the Rattlers. The last two matchups ended in draws, and the one before that saw the Rattlers come out on top. The last time the Pioneers won against St. Mary's was in 2019, with STMU leading the all-time series 5-1-3. The Pioneers will be looking to end that streak and claim a victory this time.

ROAD STRETCH:

BUSINESS ON THE ROAD:

  • A LOOK AT THE RATTLERS: St. Mary's (5-4-3, 3-2-2) enters this matchup after a tough loss in their last game. With a solid home record of 3-1-2, the Rattlers will be looking to bounce back and secure their fourth conference win as they host the Pioneers on their home territory.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU (6-2-3, 2-1-3) comes off a 2-0 shutout victory over Eastern New Mexico, which marked their first home conference win and their seventh shutout of the season. Freshman Cadence Andersen scored her first goal of the season, becoming the sixth player on the team to find the back of the net, highlighting the Pioneers' diversified attack strategy. Senior goalkeeper Amanda Farris has been in outstanding form, maintaining a 0.841 save percentage and saving every goal attempt since the tie against Midwestern State on Oct. 2. The Pioneers have also been strong on the road, with a 4-1-1 away record heading into tomorrow's match.

  • THE PATH TO VICTORY: The Pioneers' offensive pressure and ability to create chances will be a major asset in this match. With 142 shots, averaging 12.9 shots per game, TWU is generating plenty of opportunities and outshooting their opponents, who average 8.5 shots per game. However, to secure the victory, the team must focus on finishing those chances to improve their shots on goal percentage, which currently stands at 43.7%. Defensively,TWU has been strong, allowing just 0.64 goals per game and recording seven clean sheets. If the Pioneers can balance their offensive and defensive efforts, they will be well-positioned to take home the win.

The Pioneers take on St. Mary's tomorrow at Sigma Beta Chi Field in San Antonio, Texas, at 1 p.m.
