DENTON, Texas (Nov. 25, 2024) – For the first time since 2015, the Texas Woman's volleyball team punched their ticket to the 2024 NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.
TWU (19-9, 12-4) claimed the No. 6 seed and will meet the No. 3 seed MSU Denver in the first round on Thursday, December 5.
The tournament will be hosted at the No. 1 Seed Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas. Information about tickets and watch links will be available soon.
On TWU's side of the bracket, the winner of their match will face the winner of No. 2 seed West Texas A&M against No. 7 seed UT Tyler.
The top half of the bracket features two Lone Star Conference schools and two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools. Angelo State will face the No. 8 seed Colorado Christian, and the No. 4 seed Dallas Baptist will meet the No. 5 seed Colorado Mesa.
The Pioneers closed the season with their best LSC record since 2015, going 12-4 in LSC action and finishing fifth overall.
TWU goes dancing in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history (1996, 1997, 2013 and 2015) and first time under Head Coach
Jessica Ransom.
Over the course of the season, the Pioneers posted their longest win streak, 11, since 2003. They also defeated No. 22 DBU on Nov. 6, marking their first win over a ranked team since 2017.
The Pioneers celebrated five All-LSC honorees:
Cara Pool,
Tori Woods,
Grace Reynolds,
Luna França and
Malia Viernes.
Currently, TWU ranks fourth in the LSC in hitting percentage, averaging .242 on the season. They also rank third in kills with 14 per set and fourth in assists with 12.74 on the season. The Pioneers also rank first in digs, averaging 17.66 per set.
