KINGSVILLE, Texas (Feb. 17, 2024) – After an impressive offensive performance on Thursday night, the Texas Woman's basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon against Texas A&M – Kingsville.
No. 9 TWU (23-3, 17-1) will meet TAMUK (11-14, 7-11) for the second time this season, as the Pioneers look to record their 24th win of the season and 18th win in Lone Star Conference action.
On Thursday, the Pioneers defeated Texas A&M International on the road, 91-85. The Javelinas faced UT Tyler on Thursday at home at lost 58-50.
The Pioneers currently hold the No. 1 spot in the LSC with just one conference loss on the season.

TRIPLE THREAT
- SECOND MEETING: Saturday marks the second meeting of the season between the Pioneers and the Javelinas. The two teams played on Jan. 18 in Denton, and the Pioneers secured the victory, 64-54. Ashley Ingram led TWU with 26 points, and Leila Patel added 12 points. In the game, the Pioneers shot a low percentage from the field – 36%. The Pioneers have been shooting a high percentage from the field over the last month, as they currently rank first in the LSC in field goal percentage and 11th in Division II with a 46.2% field goal percentage per game.
- CAREER NIGHT: On Thursday, several Pioneers had career high performances. Patel scored a career high 27 points in the win and secured a career high seven rebounds. Jada Celsur set the Pioneers up for success, dishing out a career high 10 assists. Ingram moved into the top five on two TWU Program Lists – rebounds and points – and entered the top 10 in assists. Ingram also secured her 13th double-double of the season, which ranks sixth in Division II.
- PAINT IT MAROON: On Thursday, in their loss to UT Tyler, the Javelinas gave up 32 points in the paint. TWU, who scores a high percentage of their shots in the painted area, will look to capitalize on the advantage down low. In their win on Thursday, the Pioneers scored 46 points in the paint.
