ARGYLE, Texas (March 23, 2024) - The Texas Woman's STUNT team was a part of history as they competed in the first ever LSC Championship along with host Dallas Baptist, St. Mary's, and UT Tyler on Saturday.

The Pioneers went 1-1 on the day and finished third on the weekend after falling to St. Mary's in the semifinals 20-5, and concluded with a 14-0 win over UT Tyler.

A handful of Pioneers appeared as top scorers while competing in routines where the Pioneers scored, including Kailen Smalls, Jocelyn Dennie, Kara Abram, Alicia Kenney, Jasmine Monroe, and Laurel Jones.

On Saturday, March 23, TWU started the LSC Championship down 3-1 against St. Mary's after the opening quarter of partner stunts. The Pioneers added another point to their score and held the Ratters to just two scores to make it a 5-2 game at the half. St. Mary's outscored Texas Woman's 15-3 in the second half. Smalls and Dennie finished with 12 points as Adams and Kenney contributed eight, respectively.

TWU made it a point to put the first game behind them as they prepared for the third place game against UT Tyler, who was defeated in their semifinal game versus DBU. Texas Woman's started strong by scoring four straight points in the first quarter. The Pioneers then added two more points in the pyramids and tosses routines to make it 6-0. The second half was all Pioneers, scoring three points in the third quarter and five more in team routines to force the 14-0 mercy rule. Monroe and Smalls led the Pioneers with 27 points in the game as Jones and Kenney finished with 13.

"Today we made history by competing in the first LSC stunt tournament," Head Coach Jasmine Owens said. "It's been amazing to see not only the progression of our team through our three years but also the exciting ones with our sport as a whole. We've been working all season to accomplish our goal of completing all eight tumble routines, and this tournament we finally ticked that off our list! Extremely proud of all of our elite tumblers for putting in work and executing their routine beautifully."

As the Pioneers wrap up the LSC season, they are back on the floor on Saturday, April 6, in Springfield, Missouri, to compete in the Drury tournament. TWU faces off against Missouri Baptist for their first game at 4 p.m.
