DENTON, Texas (Oct. 15, 2025) - The Texas Woman's basketball team returns to the Denton Square next week to connect with the community and create excitement for the upcoming 2025-26 season. 

The Pioneers will be a part of the second annual Nightmare on Elm St. event in conjunction with the City of Denton's "Thirty One Days of Halloween" festivities.

On Oct. 22, in partnership with the University of North Texas, the Pioneers will take over an outdoor court in downtown Denton. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the 2025-26 TWU basketball team - the three-time Lone Star Conference Regular Season Champions and two-time LSC Tournament Champions. The Pioneers will take the court at 6 p.m. The first 300 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt. TWU will also be handing out schedule posters, which the student-athletes will sign at the end of their hour on the court. 

The Pioneers will showcase the excitement that fans can look forward to in KMA this upcoming season. Nightmare on Elm Street will showcase a basketball court setup on Elm Street between Hickory and Oak Street in the Denton Square.

"Last year, we had an incredible time interacting with the Denton community at the first Nightmare on Elm St. event," said TWU Head Coach Beth Jillson. "Our team and department remain passionate about connecting with the community and igniting passion for athletics throughout young fans in Denton. The excitement and energy everyone brought was unforgettable. We encourage everyone to be in the square on Oct. 22. We are looking forward to another great event in partnership with UNT and the City of Denton."

The event is free and open to the public.
