DAVIS, Calif. (Jan. 31, 2026) – On Friday night, the Texas Woman's gymnastics team claimed the road win over UC Davis.
TWU closed the night with a 193.450, while the host Aggies scored a 191.9250.
The Pioneers top event was floor, where they posted a 48.800.
Sophia Isbell and
Sophie Hernandez tied for the event title, as both Pioneers scored 9.850s. Isbell's score matched her career high.
Bailey Bourgeois posted a 9.750. In her season debut on floor,
Sofia Steffan scored a 9.675, and
Kami Zarlengo opened the rotation with a 9.675.
On vault and bars, TWU posted identical scores, as they opened the night with a 48.525 on both events.
In rotation one on bars,
Caroline Bowns led with a 9.800 to take second on the event, and
Alaina Reid scored a 9750 to finish third overall. In the lead-off spot, Bourgeois got the meet going with a 9.700. In the fifth spot,
Brooke Ferrari posted a 9.675, and Zarlengo rounded out the top five counting scores for TWU with a 9.600.
TWU moved to vault for the second rotation, where they were once again led by Isbell, who claimed her second straight vault event title with a 9.800.
Maddy Murphy finished second overall on the event with a season high 9.750. Hernandez matched her season high with a 9.700, and Reid also added a 9.700.
Kyleigh Ghanbari posted the fifth and final counting score for TWU with a 9.575.
The Pioneers closed the night out on beam with a 47.600. In the anchor spot, Isbell scored a 9.725.
Ruby Goad and Hernandez both scored 9.650s for TWU to mark the top three scores for the Pioneers to close out the meet.
"Tonight was not the result we wanted, but we are grateful that we get another opportunity in less than 48 hours," said TWU Gymnastics Head Coach
Lisa Bowerman. "I know this team will take full advantage of the chance to be back out on the floor again and compete like the team we know we are."
TWU will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 1 at a tri meet hosted by San Jose State, which will also feature Southern Utah. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m. CT.
