KLEINHANS AND ELLIOTT NAMED LSC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

RICHARDSON, Texas (Jan. 6, 2026) – The Texas Woman's basketball team started off 2026 2-0 to extend their current winning streak to 10 and road-game winning streak to seven.

Following their two wins, Averee Kleinhans and Gabby Elliott were named the Lone Star Conference Players of the Week.  

Kleinhans was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week. In the win over UT Permian Basin, she scored a career high 29 points on 50% from the field and 50% from the three point line. She also dished out six assists and grabbed nine rebounds and three steals in the win. She followed up her performance against the Falcons with 24 points in the Sunday afternoon win over Angelo State. She once again shot 50% from the field, while also dishing out two assists. Against the Rambelles, she had zero turnovers in 23 minutes of play.

In the LSC, Kleinhans currently ranks second in points per game, averaging 17.2, second in assists per game with 4.1, ninth in field goal percentage, shooting 46.7% per game, and fifth in free throw percentage, averaging 79.3%. 

This marked her second LSC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

Elliott was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week. In the wins over UTPB and ASU, Elliott recorded back-to-back double-doubles. Against UT Permian Basin, Elliott grabbed a career high 17 rebounds. She also scored 16 points and grabbed a season-high three steals. On Sunday, in the win over the Rambelles, Elliott grabbed 14 rebounds and scored 15 points. She also recorded two blocks and grabbed one steal.

Elliott currently ranks fifth in the LSC in scoring (16 points per game), first in rebounding (11.2 rebounds per game), sixth in field goal percentage (50.9%) and third in blocks (2.2 blocks per game). 

The honor marked Elliott's second LSC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and fourth overall LSC Player of the Week honor.

"I am so proud of Averee and Gabby," said TWU Head Coach Beth Jillson. "They both stepped up in big ways to secure two road wins for us in conference action. In each game, Averee and Gabby responded well to the ups-and-downs of play and found ways to make an impact on both ends of the court, which helped us be successful."

This marks the fifth LSC Player of the Week honor for the Pioneers this season.
