PIONEERS MOVE UP TO NO. 2 IN NATIONAL RANKINGS

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 10, 2026) – The Texas Woman's basketball team claimed two wins last week, including a Top 20 win over Lubbock Christian. 

Following their wins, the Pioneers moved up one spot to be ranked No. 2 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association National Poll.
 
TWU is currently on an 19-game win streak. They are 14-0 in the LSC and 11-0 on the road.

The Pioneers rank second in scoring in the LSC, averaging 71.9 points per game. They rank second in defense, holding opponents to 56.8 points per game. On average, the Pioneers are defeating their opponents by 15.1 points, which ranks second in the LSC. TWU leads the LSC in team field goal percentage with a 45.4% from the field – a mark which ranks ninth in NCAA Division II. The Pioneers also rank first in free throw percentage, shooting 76.3% from the charity stripe. TWU ranks third in lowest average of opponent rebounds, allowing 31.7 rebounds per game. Additionally, they rank third in rebounding margin, out-rebounding their opponent by 6.3 per game. They also rank third in assist-to-turnover ratio at 0.98 per game. 

From the LSC, West Texas A&M (21-2) fell one spot to No. 8, and Lubbock Christian (18-5) fell to No. 23 after their loss to TWU. Fellow South Central Region opponent, Colorado Mesa (24-1) held strong at No. 4

The movement occurred in the Top Three after reigning Division II National Champion Grand Valley State (21-1) lost their first game of the season to Wayne State, who is receiving votes in this week's poll. Former No. 2 Minnesota State Mankato (24-0) remains undefeated and moved up to No. 1.
