PIONEERS LOCK DOWN CAMERON IN 66-41 VICTORY

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 14, 2026) - It was a wet Valentine's Day outside, but Texas Woman's basketball made it rain inside Kitty Magee Arena as well, dropping buckets in a 66-41 win over the Cameron Aggies.

TWU (22-1, 16-0) took advantage of CU's (2-22, 2-14) shooting woes early, leading 27-4 after the opening period. The Pioneers established a 20-point lead toward the close of the first period, cruising to the 25-point win.

The Aggies shot 18.8% from the field and 14.8% from 3-point range, both team lows. TWU swarmed the ball as well, tallying 50 total rebounds, one shy of the season-high mark. Forty-one rebounds were recorded on defense, marking a new season high.

IMPACT PLAYERS

  • Gabby Elliott tallied 12 points for the Pioneers, shooting 4-for-9 from the field and sinking all four free-throw attempts. Elliott added 14 rebounds to mark her fourth straight double-double, along with four blocks.

  • Jaylee Moss added 10 points in the win, her second game in double-digit scoring. The freshman shot 4-for-7 from the field and sank a pair of treys.

  • Coming off the bench for TWU, Jordyn Hernandez recorded a new season high with nine points, shooting 3-for-6 from the field and adding a pair of 3-pointers — her first and second of the season. The sophomore added five rebounds and one block on defense.

PIONEER POWER MOMENTS

  • The game began in the Pioneers' favor, with a pair of free throws by Elliott giving the home team a 2-0 advantage 12 seconds in. The Aggies cut into the lead with a free throw but went the next six minutes without another point. In the meantime, a jumper by Avery McConnell sparked a 16-0 scoring run, ending when Cameron made another free throw to make it 18-2 with 2:45 remaining. The TWU lead continued to swell, increasing the margin to 23 with a buzzer-beater by Moss to close the period at 27-4.

  • The second period kicked off with a trey by Moss, continuing the Pioneers' hot scoring. The Aggie offense began to awaken, reaching double digits by the halfway point. However, there was no stopping the Pioneer scoring. The largest lead of the game came in the final minute of the period, when Hernandez's second 3-pointer of the season — the first coming four minutes earlier — increased the lead to 29 at 43-14. Moss beat the buzzer again to send TWU into halftime with a commanding 45-17 lead.

  • The third period turned into more of a defensive struggle, with neither team managing more than five consecutive points. The Aggies outscored TWU 16-12 in the period, but the Pioneer lead never dropped below 21. A trey by Jada Celsur closed the scoring and sent TWU into the final period with a 57-33 lead.

  • The fourth period remained a defensive battle, with neither team managing more than four consecutive points. TWU outscored the Aggies 9-8 in the closing period. Three straight points by the visitors closed the scoring, cementing the 66-41 win.
