DENTON, Texas (Nov. 27, 2024) – On Wednesday afternoon, the Pioneers celebrated a historical day in Kitty Magee Arena.
During TWU's (7-1, 0-1) 83-75 win over Central Oklahoma (1-7),
Scout Huffman eclipsed 1,000 career points, and
Ashley Ingram officially moved into second all-time in points and rebounds in TWU program history.
Huffman, who finished with a season-high 16 points, became the 13th Pioneer all-time to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
With her 22 points and nine rebounds in the game, Ingram now has 1,665 career points and 811 career rebounds. She surpassed Tammi (Julch) Williams (1990-94) on both lists.
Both Huffman and Ingram helped lead the Pioneers to their seventh win of the season.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Ingram led the Pioneers with 22 points. She also grabbed nine rebounds, three steals and dished out five assists in the win. Ingram also matched her career high with three blocks on the defensive end.
- Averee Kleinhans finished the game with 17 points, four rebounds and two assists.
- On her career day, Huffman scored a season high 16 points. She also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
- Leila Patel dished out a career high eight assists in the win. She also added 15 points, four rebounds and two blocks in the win.
- In her second game back, Caroline Glud Rasmussen grabbed four rebounds for TWU.
PIONEER POWER MOMENTS
- The Pioneers matched their season high paint points with 46. They grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and to covert 21 second chance points. TWU's bench contributed 25 points. The Pioneers forced 15 turnovers for 21 points, while they allowed UCO to score just six second chance points. Additionally, the Pioneers outrebounded the Bronchos 35-23.
- As a team, TWU shot 55.7% from the floor. With 83 points, the Pioneers matched their most points scored this season. On the other side, the 75 points marked the most points scored against TWU this season. UCO shot 50.8% from the field and 57.9% from the three point line.
- TWU outscored the Bronchos in every quarter except the second, which UCO won 16-15. Over the course of the 40 minutes, the score was tied eight times, and the lead changed 12 times.
- Ingram opened up the game with an early triple to give TWU the 3-0 advantage to start. Kleinhans would increase the Pioneers' lead to nine, 21-12, with 1:28 remaining in the first quarter after a jumper off the assist by Kayla Glover.
- Gabby Elliott would connect on a layup off an assist by Kleinhans to give TWU the six-point advantage, 23-17, with 30 seconds remaining in the opening quarter. A three by UCO to end the quarter would send TWU into the second quarter of action with the three-point lead, 23-20.
- In the second quarter, the score was tied five times. The last tie in the quarter came at the eight second mark off a made free throw by UCO, 36-36. Off a fast break with two seconds left in the half, Glover dished the ball to Ingram to send TWU into the halftime break with a two-point advantage, 38-36.
- Early on in the third quarter, the advantage flipped several times with both sides leading by one point.
- At the 4:34 mark, Kleinhans ignited a 7-2 run over two minutes of action to push TWU back up by five, 52-47.
- With 29 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Elliott grabbed an offensive board and hit the put-back to give the Pioneers their largest lead of the third quarter at nine points, 61-52.
- After a late second three by UCO, the Pioneers headed into the final quarter of action with a six-point lead, 61-55.
- With five minutes remaining in the game, the score was tied at 66. The final tie of the game came at 3:39, as both teams sat at 70 points each. Kleinhans quickly responded and got a bucket to push TWU ahead by two, 72-70, with 3:36 remaining in the contest. Her shot ignited a 13-5 closing run for TWU, which sealed the win.
